Guitar Blog & 60 Second Changes

I decided that I will use this blogger as a place to document my journey as I learn to play the guitar.

Over the last 7 weeks I have been playing guitar every single day for at least 30 minutes. I have a few books and I have skimmed the Beginners course on JustinGuitar.com. However, I have not exactly been following much of the advice... until now.

One of the practice sessions that JustinGuitar talks about are 60 second changes. Basically, set a timer for 1 minute and see how many times you can switch from Chord 1 to Chord 2 and back. You only count every time you return to the first chord. The goal is to get to 30 - which means one change every second.

Here are my results from todays practicing:

D -> A: 41
E -> A: 52
D -> A: 42
G -> C: 38
C -> E: 26
G -> D: 43
G -> E: 60
G -> F: 20
B7 -> C: 13

I can clearly see which chords I need to practice now. My fingers do not like the C chord, B7 chord, or the F chord.
